Evaluating Gaps in Occupational Medicine Education Among Final-Year Medical Students in Queensland: A Mixed-Methods Pilot Study

This study examines whether final-year medical students are adequately prepared in occupational and environmental medicine,

and whether a brief, targeted educational intervention can improve their understanding.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognise current gaps in occupational and environmental medicine knowledge, confidence, and training among final-year medical students.
  2. Interpret the impact of a brief targeted educational intervention on occupational medicine knowledge and learner confidence.
  3. Discuss strategies to strengthen occupational and environmental medicine education within undergraduate medical curricula to better prepare future doctors for clinical practice.
